Saving and sharing templates in Microsoft Whiteboard allows you to create and save customized layouts that can be used to create new whiteboards quickly and efficiently. This new capability can be especially useful if you frequently use the same types of whiteboards or have a specific layout that you want to use as a starting point for new whiteboards. Share your masterpieces with fellow colleagues and revolutionize the way you work together. Whether you're using a mind map to brainstorm or a flowchart to organize ideas, Whiteboard templates are the powerful tool you need to take your teamwork to the next level.

Create your own template

  • Create a new whiteboard or open an existing whiteboard that you want to save as a template.

  • Go to template panel and click My templates.

  • Click on Create new template.

  • In the Save as template dialog box, give your template a name and save.

Your template will now be saved in the "My templates" section and you can use it to create new whiteboards with the same layout and content.

Note: creating a template will not alter the whiteboard that you used to make the template.

Share your template

  • Go to office.com and in the app launcher, select OneDrive.

  • In the navigation pane, select My files.

  • Navigate to \Whiteboards\My Templates.

  • Select the template you want to share.

  • Click the ... icon.

  • Click the Share icon to send an email with the link to others in your organization, or copy the link to share.

Sharing directly from Microsoft Whiteboard in the Templates panel will be coming soon!

Edit your template

At this time, you cannot directly edit a template you’ve created. If you’d like to make changes to a template, you can insert it onto a whiteboard, make the changes you’d like and save it as a new template.

Note that if you’ve shared the template with others, you’ll need to re-share the new version you just made.

Editing existing templates will be available in future.
