ISSUE

The following features have been disabled in volume license installations of PowerPoint 2019 in the April 9, 2024 Office update (version 1808, Build 10409.20028) to prevent a problem that could potentially cause file corruption and data loss.

  • The Display as icon checkbox in the Insert ObjectConvert, and Paste Special dialog boxes.

  • The Create from file option in the Insert Object dialog box.

  • The DisplayAsIcon and Link parameters in the Shapes.AddOLEObject method.

  • Pasting as Picture (Windows Metafile) from the Paste Special dialog box.

  • Pasting as ppPasteMetafilePicture from the Shapes.PasteSpecial and View.PasteSpecial methods.

STATUS: PARTIALLY FIXED

File corruption has been partially resolved. The "Display as icon" feature, the "Create from file" feature, and the impacted parameters in the "Shapes.AddOLEObject" method have been fully restored in the July 9, 2024 office update, Version 1808, Build 10412.20006.
