Getting started with accessible content

Create accessible file names

Your browser does not support video. Install Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash Player, or Internet Explorer 9.

Try it!

When you use meaningful file names and add properties to your documents, you make your files easier for everyone to find. A good filename provides clues to a document’s content and age, for example, “Support Reviews June 15."

To rename a file

  1. Using File Explorer, right-click a file, and select Rename.

  2. Type a new name for the document, and press Enter.

To add details about a document

  1. Select File > Info.

  2. Under Properties, in the Title box, type a title for the document.

  3. To add an author, under Related People, select Add an author.
